Bounty is a collaborative photographic work by Melbourne artists Catherine Black and Suzanne Phoenix.
From a shared photographic practice, the work reflects a creative camaraderie between the Black and Phoenix, while engaging with one of Victoria’s most enduring and contentious subjects: fox hunting.
Through their respective perspectives, the images document a practice situated at the intersection of tradition, pest management, animal cruelty, environmental sustainability and public debate.
Victoria has a long history of fox control programs, including Government Bounty Schemes that continue to assign a monetary value to the eradication of foxes.
