Artist Statement
The Comfort of Water, A Pilgrimage by Maya Ward has influenced my life in many ways. It was instrumental in my moving to Warburton. The meditative nature of the book, its very flow, is that of The Yarra River that runs through my town. Over the past 7 years I have continually reconnected with the river, like a touchstone to life. During 2020 and 2021, with lockdown restrictions in place for so many months, the river was a sign of life, dynamic. This artwork was created on the first day restrictions eased when I could return to drive to exercise and could again bond with the river.
